What’s the key to beautiful flushed cheeks? The right blush for your skin tone

You don’t just feel amazing post-workout; you look it. And while nothing tops the glow that results from a legit sweat session, you can recreate the rosiness with blush.

“Blush brings life to your face,” says David Vincent, international makeup artist for Lise Watier. “It’s one of the best ways to make you look younger, healthier and more energized.” (For glowy cheeks that’ll last all day, check out our full reviews of Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty.)

If you’re fair, try a light pink colour. “It’s more complementary because it’s the closest natural colour that your cheeks will appear when flushed,” he says. Juicy shades of warm apricot and cool coral are best on medium skin tones, and dark skin can bask in bold colours. “Try something with more red tones, like berry, if your skin has a cool tone or orange if your skin is on the warm side,” says Vincent. The rule for all skin tones: Even more important than where you apply blush (the apples of the cheeks, please!) is how you apply blush. Invest in a makeup brush that has a domed, slightly fluffy tip, which will excel at dusting product all over your skin. “If the hairs are too long or too stiff, you won’t achieve perfect results,” says Vincent.
