A sunny attitude

Watch Victoria’s Secret model Jasmine Tookes walk the runway and you’d never guess that she once struggled with self-confidence. “I think that once I grew into myself and learned more about the person I am, I was able to become confident,” she says. Naturally, that self-assuredness comes with age and experience, but a positive attitude really does make all the difference. “I’ve always been really positive and happy and I think that when you’re happy, you’re confident,” she says. (Here, 5 celebs get real about how they deal with body confidence.)

Fit is everything

Finding clothes — and a bra — that fit properly is also key to confidence, according to Tookes. In fact, body language can reveal a lot. Studies show that almost 55 percent of our communication is through non-verbal cues, like facial expressions, gestures and posture. “If you have the wrong bra size under your shirt, you’re always fidgeting with yourself and you feel insecure because you’re uncomfortable,” says Tookes. “When you feel comfortable, that’s when you’re the sexiest and feel good about yourself.” Tookes knows what she’s talking about here. The Fantasy Bra she wore in the 2016 Victoria’s Secret fashion show was custom-made for her and the fitting process involved having a mold made of her upper body.

Strong is sexy

Keeping up with her fitness regimen — despite a hectic travel schedule – is also key for Tookes. She says she logs workouts on her phone and makes meal plans, which helps her keep up with her routine. “I also think that it really helps to have a friend and be challenged together, or have a program that will help you stay on target,” she says. For motivation she often looks to fellow Victoria’s Secret model and BFF, Josephine Skriver. Together the two created a joint Instagram account (@joja) where they post motivating quotes, healthy meal ideas and partner workouts. “Josephine and I definitely get competitive. For example, if she’s doing five pull-ups then I’m going to do six and if I can’t, then I’m going to go to the gym every day until I can,” she says. “I think that’s what’s fun about working out together because every day you’re having fun while also getting stronger.” Get motivated by one of the best fitness studios in Canada, as voted by you.
