RIP: How Sonia Rykiel’s Legacy Lives On

Sonia Rykiel’s legacy will live on, not just in the fashion world, but in beauty, too.
Sadly, on August 25th, news broke that 86-year-old fashion icon Sonia Rykiel had passed away. Affectionately known as the “Queen of Knitwear,” the French designer revamped maternity fashion in the 1960s before ushering in women’s fashions with vibrant patterns and relaxed, comfortable knits in the 1970s.
This fall, Rykiel’s legacy extends beyond fashion to beauty with a Lancôme collaboration. Look for pretty colours worthy of an haute Parisienne and playful compacts we’ll never want to throw away.
RIP Sonia Rykiel.
